The kudu is native to Southern Africa. Its preferred habitat is areas with trees where it can avoid predators such as the lion, leopard, hyena and wild dog. Its horns can reach 187cm (6 feet). The horns are used in many traditional communities including as a shofar on Rosh Hashanah.
